Sometimes life takes an unexpected turn… and ends up leading you exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Meet Tiffany.

On Wednesday, May 13, Tiffany graduated from the Surgical Technologist program at Washington County Career Center – Adult Technical Training. Even better? She’s officially been hired by Memorial Health System in Labor & Delivery, her dream job.
Not that long ago, Tiffany thought she was settled into her forever career. Then life changed, and she found herself unexpectedly laid off. Like many people would, she stepped back and asked herself, “What do I really want to do?”
The answer was something she had thought about for years… surgery.
So when her daughter Kyleigh mentioned she was interested in the Surgical Technology program at The Career Center, Tiffany had a simple response:
“Let’s do it together.”
And just like that, the two became classmates, study partners, and each other’s support system through the fast-paced 9-month program.
But Tiffany’s journey wasn’t just about going back to school.
Years ago, her husband, an Army Veteran, began facing serious neurological challenges. Their family went through some very difficult years, and through it all, Tiffany kept moving forward. Today, he’s her biggest supporter, cheering her on through classes, clinicals, late-night studying, and everything in between.
Coming back to school after years away wasn’t easy either.
Her biggest challenge?
Learning how to learn again.
The Surgical Technology program moves quickly. Long days, constant studying, clinicals, and exams. But Tiffany kept pushing herself, and it paid off.
She earned a paid externship with Memorial Health System in Labor & Delivery, exactly where she hoped to be. That externship quickly turned into a job offer, and now she’s officially starting the career she dreamed about.
From being part of deliveries to working with a team she loves, Tiffany has found exactly where she belongs.
She credits the hands-on training at Adult Technical Training, especially practicing in the lab with the Syndaver, for helping her feel confident and prepared the first time she walked into the OR.
And through it all, she’s most proud of being a mom to three amazing daughters.
Kyleigh completed the program alongside her and has been offered a job with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centers as a Surgical Tech at Ohio State East Hospital.
Caden is continuing her healthcare journey after phlebotomy training.
And Alexis also started her path at The Career Center before going on to earn her bachelor’s degree in healthcare.
A pretty incredible family of hardworking women.
Tiffany’s advice for anyone thinking about making a change?
“If you want it, you can do it. You just have to put in the effort.”
And she’s proof of that every single day.
