The Career Center – Adult Technical Training Announces Expanded Medical Assistant Program with Multiple Certifications and Faster Pathway to Employment
The Washington County Career Center – Adult Technical Training is excited to announce updates to its Medical Assistant program designed to give students even more opportunities for success in today’s growing healthcare industry.
Beginning August 17, the program will transition to the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential pathway, allowing students to complete training in just 10 months while earning multiple in-demand healthcare certifications along the way.
The updated program schedule will run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM, creating a student-friendly format that allows for hands-on learning, work-life balance, and faster entry into the workforce.
Students enrolled in the program will have the opportunity to earn four industry-recognized certifications, including:
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
The expanded certification model gives graduates a competitive edge and prepares them for a variety of roles in physician offices, clinics, specialty practices, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.
“This change creates an incredible opportunity for students,” said Erica Chidester, Medical Programs Manager at Adult Technical Training. “Healthcare employers are looking for well-rounded professionals with multiple skill sets, and this program helps students graduate with several certifications that make them highly employable from day one.”
Medical assistants continue to be one of the fastest-growing careers in healthcare, with strong local and regional demand. The program combines classroom instruction, hands-on lab training, and real-world clinical experiences to prepare students for success in both patient care and administrative healthcare roles.
The Career Center – Adult Technical Training has continued to expand healthcare training opportunities through investments in modern lab spaces, interactive simulation equipment, and partnerships with regional healthcare providers.
“This is about creating more opportunities for our students and helping meet the growing workforce needs in healthcare,” said Evan Schaad, Director of Adult Technical Training. “Students can complete training in less than a year, earn multiple credentials, and begin building a career with tremendous growth potential.”
Enrollment for the August 17 class is now open.
