Career Center Names Students of the Month

The Washington County Career Center honors its February students of the month, Breanna and Dylan.


Breanna is a Warren senior enrolled in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and she is the daughter of John and Sadie of Vincent and the sister of Shane of the home.

At the Career Center, Breanna is a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization, co-president for Students Solving Problems, and secretary for the National Technical Honor Society. She has received awards for principal list and honor roll. For BPA, she competed and placed third at regionals for advanced desktop publishing. She will compete at the state level, in Columbus, March 7-8.


In her technical program, Breanna has earned or is working on earning industry-recognized credentials and college credit for Adobe Creative Cloud: 2D animation, digital photography, digital storytelling, digital video effects, graphic design, illustrator, indesign, live streaming & production, photoshop, and video production. Academically, she is taking college credit courses for American national government, art appreciation, college algebra, English composition I & II, psychology, introduction to nutrition, statistics, survey of mythology, and technical writing. In addition, she is taking the Fiber Optic class to become certified through the Career Center’s Adult Technical Training. She is on track to obtain her associate degree for individualized studies by the time she graduates from high school in May. She is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for creating & editing digital graphics, design techniques, information technology, multimedia & image management techniques, and video & sound. Graphic Design & Video Production instructor, Chris Palmer, commented, “Breanna is a wonderful future-focused student who always does her best. She is very independent and hard-working.”


Upon graduation, Breanna plans to attend Ohio University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in animation.

Dylan is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Digital Marketing program, and he is the son of Craig and Melissa of Lowell.


At the Career Center, Dylan is a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization, National Technical Honor Society, and holds the office of vice president for his technical program. He has received awards for principal list and honor roll. Through his technical program, he has earned industrial certifications for Microsoft Office Specialist – Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Dylan is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for business administration marketing, business foundations, digital marketing & management, and marketing principles. Digital Marketing instructor, Lynette Snyder, commented, “Dylan is such a joy to have in class. He rarely misses school and is kind and respectful to everyone. Dylan is a leader in the classroom and often goes above and beyond expectations on projects and assignments.”


Dylan works for his father at Security Electronics as an installer. He plans to continue working for the family business after graduation.
