The Washington County Career Center honors its September Students of the Month, Kylie and William.
Kylie is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Digital Marketing program, and she is the daughter of Craig and Melissa of Lowell.
At the Career Center, Kylie is a member of the Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization and the National Technical Honor Society. As a Student Ambassador, she is responsible for acting as a liaison between the Career Center and Marietta High School. In addition, she is gaining leadership skills by promoting the Career Center during its recruitment process as well as giving tours and guidance at scheduled events and with incoming visitors. Kylie has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and Honor Roll. In her technical program, she has earned industry-recognized credentials and college credit for Advertising/Visual Marketing and is currently working on Small Business Entrepreneur and Social Media Marketing. In addition, she has or will earn credentials for Google Adwords and Google Analytics; Microsoft Office Specialist: OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word; and RISE Up – Business of Retail: Operations and Profit, Customer Service and Sales, and Retail Industry Fundamentals. She is taking course offerings and learning skills for Business Administration Marketing, Business Foundations, Digital Marketing & Management, and Marketing Principles.
Kylie enjoys photography, art with freehand drawing and painting as well as babysitting for her younger siblings and neighbors’ children. She is a member of Souls Harbor Baptist Church, in Marietta, and actively participates in their youth group. Digital Marketing instructor, Lynette Snyder, commented on special traits and roles Kylie carries such as hardworking, diligent and a student leader.
Upon graduation, Kylie hopes to obtain an internship with a local business and then possibly take college courses to earn a business marketing degree to open her own company.
William is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Electricity program, and he is the son of Mark of Marion and Cheyenne of Marietta.
At the Career Center, William is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization and the National Technical Honor Society. He has received awards for the Career Center’s Principal List and Honor Roll. In his technical program, William has earned industry-recognized credentials for National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER): Core & Level 1 as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) – 10-Hour Training. Through College Credit Plus (CCP), he has or will earn both high school and college credit for the following academic courses: Career Classes, English Composition, Entrepreneurship, and Statistics. He is taking course offerings and learning skills for Commercial & Industrial Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Electrical Systems, Construction Safety & Crew Leadership, and Residential Electrical Systems.
William actively volunteers for various organizations. He is currently a Life Scout through the Boys Scout of America and is working on a project to earn Eagle Scout status. He received the Chaplin Award through the American Legion. Through the Mid-Ohio Valley Outreach (MOVO) program, he is an adjutant for the Mid-Ohio Valley Veterans Outreach. This past summer, William attended Buckeye Boys State at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. School Counselor, Stacy Elliott, commented on special traits and roles William carries such as hardworking, kind, giving, and a student leader.
William was employed full-time over the summer at The Galley in Marietta. He has enlisted with the Army National Guard for Combat Engineering and will attend basic training in June 2022. His goal is to further his education at West Point to obtain a nuclear physics degree or join the ROTC program at an undecided university to eventually become a commissioned officer.
