The Washington County Career Center honors its April Students of the Month, Montana, Katana, and Zoe.
Montana is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Auto Mechanics program. He is the son of Alan and Kelli of Belpre and the grandson of William and Ann of Belpre.
At the Career Center, Montana is a member the SkillsUSA youth organization. He has been on the Career Center’s Honor Roll, Merit Roll and the Energy Bus Driver program, for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. At Belpre High School, he is a member of the National Honor Society and participated in both baseball and wrestling. Through his technical program. Montana has earned industry-recognized credentials for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) for Automotive: Brakes, Engine Performance and Engine Repair. He is currently working on obtaining his credentials for Automotive: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Electrical/Electronic System, Heating & Air Conditioning, Maintenance & Light Repair, Manual Drive Train & Axles, Service Technology, and Suspension & Steering. In the Auto Mechanics program, Montana is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for the following courses: Automotive Braking, Suspension & Steering Systems (Undercarriage Systems), Automotive Engine Performance, Ground Transportation Electrical/Electronics, and Ground Transportation Maintenance. Auto Mechanics instructor, Dave Everson, nominated him for this honor and commented on special traits and roles that Montana carries such as hard-working, helpful, focused, and reliable.
Montana currently is employed at Burger King of Belpre as a crew member. Upon graduation, he plans to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio for Auto Mechanics.
Katana is a Frontier senior enrolled in the Digital Marketing program, and she is the daughter of William of New Matamoras and Tanya of Sarasota, Florida.
Katana is a member of the Career Center’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization and Student Council. She holds the office of President for both BPA and her technical program. Last school year, she held the office of Treasurer in both areas. She has received awards for the Principal List, Honor Roll, Merit Roll and is an Energy Bus Driver member for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Through her technical program, she has earned industry-recognized credentials for HubSpot, Adobe Certified Associate: Dreamweaver CC and Photoshop CC, and is currently working Illustrator CC. Katana has also taken and passed the College Credit Plus course for College Algebra, which gives her both high school and college credit. In the Digital Marketing program, she is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for the following courses: Creating & Editing Digital Graphics, Information Technology, Multimedia & Image Management Techniques, and Web Design. Digital Marketing instructor, Lynette Snyder, nominated Katana for this honor and had the following to say, “Katana is an exceptional student. She is always willing to take on extra tasks or help out in any way she can. She is upbeat and has a positive attitude. She is very conscientious of her school assignments and making sure all work is high quality and submitted on time.”
Katana currently is employed with The Jug and Par-Mar in Newport. After graduation, she plans to attend Muskingum University to obtain a bachelor’s degree for social work.
Zoe is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Patient Health Care program, and she is the daughter of Jolene of Marietta.
At the Career Center, Zoe is a member of the SkillsUSA youth organization, National Technical Honor Society, Interact Club and a student leader for Students Solving Problems. She has earned awards for Principal List and the Energy Bus Driver program for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Through her technical program, she has earned industry-recognized credentials for Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, OSHA 10-Hour Training, and Stop the Bleed. Through College Credit Plus (CCP), she earned both high school and college credit for Medical Terminology I & II. In the Patient Health Care program, Zoe is receiving a technical focus and learning skills for the following courses: Health Science & Technology, Medical Terminology, Patient Centered Care, Patient Centered Care & Diagnostics, and Principles of Allied Health Medicine. Patient Health Care instructor, Kim Miller, nominated her for this honor and commented on special traits and roles that Zoe carries such as passionate, great work ethic and consistent.
Zoe plans to attend Washington State Community College to obtain her associate degree to become a Medical Laboratory Technician.
