Career Center Names Students of the Month January


The Washington County Career Center honors its January Students of the Month, Sydney and Scott.

Sydney is a Warren senior enrolled in the Health Information Technology program, and she is the daughter of Brian of Vincent and Tonya of Marietta.

Sydney is a member of the Career Center’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization (Chapter President), Student Council (Vice President), and National Technical Honor Society. She is also the President for her technical program. She has received awards for the Principal List as well as the Career Center’s W.I.S.H. List for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. Through her technical program, she has earned industrial credentials for Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Microsoft User Specialist: OneNote, PowerPoint, and Word. She is currently working on credentials for Microsoft User Specialist: Access, Excel, and Outlook. Sydney is currently taking the dual-enrollment academic course for both high school and college credit in Principles of Chemistry I and Lab. Health Information Technology instructor, Lynette Snyder, nominated her for this honor and commented on special traits and roles Sydney carries such as pleasant, cooperative, efficient, timely, as well as she has great attendance and voluntarily asks for extra work assignments.

Sydney currently is employed at Eddy Chiropractic, in Williamstown, as a chiropractic assistant. She plans to attend either Bowling Green State University, Findlay University, or WVU-Parkersburg to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in either the medical field or law enforcement.

Scott is a Warren senior enrolled in the Graphic Design & Video Production program, and he is the son of Kelly and Julie of Marietta.

Scott is a member of the Career Center’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization, and National Technical Honor Society (Treasurer). He is also the Treasurer for his technical program. He has received awards for Principal List and Honor Roll as well as the Career Center’s W.I.S.H. List for meeting all three criteria for 3.0 GPA or higher, 95% attendance or higher, and no office referrals. At Warren High School, Scott was active in Varsity track, JV football, and Science Olympiad. Through his technical program, he has earned industrial credentials and college credit for the software Adobe Certified Associate: Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. He is currently working on Adobe Certified Associate: InDesign. He has taken or is currently taking dual-enrollment academic courses for both high school and college credit in American National Government, College Algebra, English Composition, and Principles of Chemistry I and Lab. English instructor, Evan Schaad, commented on special traits and roles that Scott carries such as hardworking, leadership, and volunteerism.

Scott currently is employed at Hibbett Sports, in Marietta, as a sales associate. Upon graduation, he plans to attend Ohio University to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or English.
