BPA Regional Winners Advance to State


Nineteen students from the Washington County Career Center Business Professionals of America (BPA) youth organization competed and placed in the top four of the BPA Regional Competition at Morgan High School. These students won the honor of advancing to the State competitive events, in Columbus, which will be held March 16-17. From this event, those students who place in the top of their category will move on to the National level, which will be held in Orlando, Florida, May 10-14.

Those students who will be competing at the State level are:

  • Advanced Word Processing – 2nd Place: Jewels Best is a senior from Marietta in the Health Information Technology program and she is the daughter of Larry and Sabrina Best of Marietta

  • Basic Office Systems & Procedures – 3rd Place: James Covey is a junior from Marietta in the Health Information Technology program and he is the son of Robert Covey of Marietta and the late Lisa Patterson

  • Broadcast News Production Team – 1st Place: Quinton Anderson is a senior from Warren in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Jason and Michelle West of Little Hocking; Nathan Lewis is a senior from Warren in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Betsy Boone of Fleming and the grandson of Joan Beardmore of Fleming; Jane Mahan is a senior from Warren in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and she is the daughter of Webster Mahan of Little Hocking and Tonja Mahan of Little Hocking; and Ethan Ritchie is a senior from Warren in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Andy Ritchie of Marietta and Tiffany Swain of Marietta

  • Computer Network Technology – 1st Place: Denzell Menefee is a senior from Frontier in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Tammie Slonaker of New Matamoras

  • Computer Network Technology – 2nd Place: Jacob Hasley is a senior from Frontier in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Gerald Hasley of Marietta and Rachel Eddy of Newport

  • Computer Security – 1st Place: Tyler Ferrier is a junior from Belpre in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Melissa Ferrier of Belpre

  • Computer Security – 3rd Place: Andrew Miller is a junior from Warren in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Lillie Miller of Bartlett

  • Database Applications – 1st Place: Megan Kelley is a senior from Marietta in the Health Information Technology program and she is the daughter of Mancil and Missy Kelley of Marietta

  • Digital Media Production – 1st Place: Shawna Mahoney is a senior from Belpre in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and she is the daughter of Michael Mahoney of Belpre and Helen Wanzo of Abbeyville, Louisiana

  • Extemporaneous Speech – 2nd Place: Trinity Jordan is a junior from Belpre in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and she is the daughter of Jennifer Thompson of Belpre

  • Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications – 4th Place: Ryan Hill is a senior from Marietta in the Health Information Technology program and he is the son of Christy Hill of Marietta

  • Fundamental Word Processing Skills – 3rd Place: DeAsia Johnson is a junior from Warren in the Health Information Technology program and she is the daughter of Tim and Dee McKenzie of Marietta

  • Fundamentals of Web Design – 1st Place: Michael Pugh is a senior from Marietta in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Michael and Jennifer Pugh of Marietta

  • Fundamentals of Web Design – 2nd Place: Parker Eddy is a senior from Frontier in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Leslie and Joann Eddy of Wingett Run

  • Interview Skills – 3rd Place: Brenton Henthorne is a senior from Marietta in the Graphic Design & Video Production program and he is the son of Joy Henthorne of Marietta

  • Medical Office Procedures – 2nd Place: Jacob Hill is a senior from Marietta in the Health Information Technology program and he is the son of Christy Hill of Marietta
