FIBER OPTIC TECHNICIAN CLASS

This 40-hour course will train students in the various methods of splicing, terminating, testing, and commissioning of fiber optic cable.

After successfully completing this course students will have the skills necessary to become FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technicians.

Course Content:

  • How fiber is used in communications

  • How a fiber optic link transmits signals

  • What Components are used in fiber optic cable plants

  • How fiber optic cables are installed, spliced and terminated


  • How a fiber optic cable plan or network is tested

  • How to design a fiber optic network

  • How different types of fiber optic cable plants are installed

  • Mechanical splicing of fiber

* This course does not fall within the ACCSC institutional accreditation

After successful course completion students are eligible to sit for the FOA (Fiber Optic association) CFOT—Certified Fiber Optic Technician Certification
