SkillsUSA Regional Winners Advance to State

Twenty-three students from the Washington County Career Center SkillsUSA youth organization will compete at the State competitive events, in Columbus, April 7-8. Those who place at the top of their event here will advance to the 56th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students, to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, June 22-26. More than 18,000 people – including students, teachers and business partners – are expected to participate in the weeklong event.


Those students who placed at Regionals and advancing to the State level are:

· Basic Health Care Skills (Straight to State): Mayleigh is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Patient Health Care program and she is the daughter of Nancy of Marietta

· Diesel Truck Mechanics (Straight to State): Levi is a direct enrolled senior in the Diesel Truck Mechanics program and he is the son of Rick and Sarah of New Matamoras

· Electrical Wiring (Regionals – 2nd Place): Cordell is a Frontier junior enrolled in the Electricity program and he is the son of William and Cynthia of Whipple

· Health Knowledge Bowl (Regionals – 3rd Place): Samantha is a Belpre junior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and she is the daughter of Scott and Jamie of Belpre and the sister of Alex of Belpre; Matteo is a Marietta junior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and he is the son of Bobby and Jill of Marietta; Shyli is a Frontier senior enrolled in the Patient Health Care program and she is the daughter of Ken and Carrie of Newport; and Levi is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and he is the son of Kevin of Belpre and the late Stacy

· Heavy Equipment Operator (Straight to State): Justin is a Belpre junior enrolled in the Heavy Equipment program and he is the son of Bart of Coolville; William is a Frontier junior enrolled in the Heavy Equipment program and he is the son of Greg and Kim Butler of New Matamoras; Nathaniel is a Warren senior enrolled in the Heavy Equipment program and he is the son of Joseph of Marietta and Jessica of Belpre; and Ryan is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Heavy Equipment program and he is the son of Jon and Angela of Little Hocking

· Industrial Motor Control (Regionals – 2nd Place): Joseph, Jr. is a Warren senior enrolled in the Electricity program and he is the son of Joe, Sr. and Erica of Little Hocking

· Job Skills Portfolio (Straight to State): Allie is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program and she is the daughter of Alan of Parkersburg and Kerry of Belpre

· Masonry (Straight to State): Bryce is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Masonry program and he is the son of Walter of Marietta

· Medical Math (Regionals – 3rd Place): Rachael is a Belpre senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and she is the daughter of Craig of Belpre

· Medical Terminology (Regionals – 2nd Place): Kylea is a Warren senior enrolled in the Sports Medicine & Exercise Science program and she is the daughter of Eric and Tamara of Amesville

· Nurse Assisting (Regionals – 3rd Place): Alyssa is a Warren senior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and she is the daughter of Christopher and Melissa of Cutler

· Prepared Speech (Regionals – 1st Place): Carlee is a Warren junior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and she is the daughter of Coy and Andrea of Little Hocking

· Team Works (Regionals – 1st Place): Gabriella is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Building Technology/Carpentry program and she is the daughter of Eric and Diane of Lowell; Gavin is a Warren senior enrolled in the Electricity program and he is the son of Deanna of Marietta; Luke is a direct enrolled senior in the Masonry program and he is the son of Rick and Rebecca of Little Hocking; and Caleb is a Marietta senior enrolled in the Building Technology/Carpentry program and he is the son of Brian and Yolanda of Marietta

· Technical and Related Math (Regionals – 3rd Place): Kane is a Warren junior enrolled in the Medical College Prep program and he is the grandson of Shellie of Little Hocking
